HeartRescue China focuses on working with government, healthcare, and community partners in Suzhou and Shanghai to improve access and quality for acute CVD care for the underserved, drawing upon lessons learned and expertise from the U.S. HeartRescue Project and from the expertise of its in-country partners, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Schools of Medicine and Public Health and the Vital Strategic Research Institute.
Key Aims
- Engage multi-sector stakeholders, including government agencies, medical professional societies, local health care providers, community groups, patients, and families
- Strengthen acute CVD systems of care, so that high quality services become available and accessible to the acute CVD patient population that is currently severely underserved, with many preventable deaths occurring as a result
- Improve the quality of care and access to pre-hospital and hospital care for acute CVD patients with STEMI and sudden cardiac arrest, which are among the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in China
- Decrease the time from onset of STEMI symptoms to reperfusion therapy through ongoing quality improvement processes
- Increase the proportion of STEMI and sudden cardiac arrest, which are among the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in China
